ELEVATION GAIN: 120 meters DISTANCE: 5 km In the winter months, Johnson Canyon is particularly magical. The trail is less crowded and the scenery is that which you'd expect in a perfect snow globe. Sarah and I had an awesome time following the snowy trail along the canyon. The frozen waterfalls and icy pools were beautiful. I would argue to say that Johnson Canyon is just as beautiful (if not more) in the winter as it is in the summer. We didn't encounter too much ice on the trail, although I have been there in the early spring and the trail was extremely slippery. This is one thing I would plan for if I was planning on visiting in the Winter or Spring again.
We stayed in the cutest cabin in Harvie Heights which made our mini road trip even better. Nothing like cozy cabins in the snow.
