Calgary is jammed packed with beautiful parks. It’s one of my favorite things about living in this beautiful city. Wes and I packed up our bikes and headed to Griffith Woods for the afternoon. It was beautiful to bike along the well-maintained trails. We took a few pit stops to enjoy the Elbow River and great scenery. It honestly felt like we weren’t in the city anymore (in fact, this park is closed right now because there is a Grizzly enjoying it too much).
I never thought I would be one to enjoy city life but man...I sure love Calgary.

The perfect start to fall. My mom, sisters and I met up at the Bowden Sunmaze this past Saturday and spent the afternoon walking through fields of flowers. Due to the hot, dry conditions we’ve been having this summer, the sunflowers were quite short and already starting to lose their petals. The maze itself didn’t really feel like a maze; more like trails through a sunflower field, but that was okay with me. After all, we came for the sunflowers, not the thrill of getting lost in the middle of a field.
After walking through the sunflowers we made our way past the extensive u-pick area filled with strawberries and veggies to the wildflower u-pick. This was one of my favorite parts. Take a pair of snippers and create your own wildflower bouquet. I loved their variety of flowers and we all enjoyed strolling through rows upon rows of flowers. The snap peas were my personal favorite. Don’t feel like picking your own? No worries, they have tons of beautiful pre-made bouquets in the entrance. I loved spending the afternoon here and will probably visit again. However, I think it’s important to look on the website before visiting; that way you can know what’s in season and how the flowers are doing that year. I would recommend hitting the maze sometime in September. Happy Trails, Cassie |
