ELEVATION GAIN: 905 meters LENGTH: 6 km round trip Yesterday, a group of us took on East End of Rundle (EEOR). Just minutes from Canmore, it's a hike that offers amazing views of Ha Ling and surrounding peaks. We parked by the trail head which is just north of the Goat Creek Staging area (marked by two large power poles). And then the hike began... up, up and up. Quite literally as the trail goes straight up for most of the hike (900m elevation gain to the summit!). While the trail starts in the trees, most of the hike is open and allows for spectacular views. The trail is mostly marked by ribbon, but as you get higher, the trail opens into more of a scramble. We were greeted at the top by small skiffs of snow, lots of wind, and tons of scree. Going down was a bit sketchy, so my advice would be to give yourself time, and be prepared for the open conditions. A wind-breaker and good shoes are a must. Hiking poles would also be helpful though most of us managed without. Keep your eyes open for the ribbon markers on the way down as it can be easy to lose the trail if you aren't paying close attention.
